Content
I don't spend time on YouTube, I could if I wanted to, I could spend forever there. It is like what 24 hours of footage uploaded every hour? So I could spend my entire life just watching crap. Most of the stuff is not original, stuff like the things you see on TV. A lot is copyright infringement, and I love being a pirate and violating laws. But when it is blatantly done by crappy filmmakers and then pisses of the original copyright holders, that just seems stupid. Content creators need to understand that when others use their work it is only for a better content consumer experience. For example if I make a video of me dancing and decide to use an obscure dance tune, while I'm technically infringing on someone's intellectual property I am promoting someone. I love Creative Commons (see other rant for more info) and I wonder why I can't just filter the whole site by CC videos and traditional copyright videos or do CC searching like on Flickr!
Technical
I do not like the tech of YouTube, I really like internet standards like HTML5, .OGV, the works. So I was really glad, hearing that they were using HTML5 for videos, but the videos are not in .OGV so the whole ordeal isn't supported by Firefox and Opera, so who cares? Now I know that .OGV is really lacking in the whole quality/compression thing, so shouldn't we be investing in making .OGV better for the whole internets community! (Am I using too many exclamation points)
